We live in a constant state of flux. One thing, or the one person that never changes is our God. We are blessed to have Him in our lives:
Psalm 44:3 It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them.
4 You are my King and my God,
who decrees[h] victories for Jacob.
Commentary: There are a lot of positives found in the word of God that encourage the people of God. We can do things to be victorious in the battle that is raging around us, but if the Lord is not on our side, things will not go well. As verse 4 says, we need to come to the point when Jesus Christ is our King and that He will bring victories to us. As I read this phrase: “the light of your face” it kind of brings me to that mode of Moses who spent time with You o Lord on Sinai and his face shone. Maybe he saw You Jesus.
Prayer: O Lord, bring victories in my own private life. Please Lord bring victories to our church members and as we contact these new Bible study potentials. Amen
Commentary: Here are few cross reference verses for our verse 3 that are full of good things:
Deuteronomy 4:37-38 Because He loved your fathers, He chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by His presence and great power, / to drive out before you nations greater and mightier than you, and to bring you into their land and give it to you for your inheritance, as it is this day.
Commentary: As Ephesians 1 states, God gave us life because He loves us. Here we see that He brings Israel out of Egypt because He loved them. He loved the people who lived in Palestine and wanted to give them the time to return to Him, but they constantly refused.
Joshua 24:12-13 I sent the hornet ahead of you, and it drove out the two Amorite kings before you, but not by your own sword or bow. / So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities that you did not build, and now you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’
Commentary: God’s desire always is to woo people back to Him so they would have a saving relationship with Him. God does not want anyone to perish but to have life and life everlasting with Him. When people refuse that, He would use things in the nature to get our attention in order to bring us back to Him.
Exodus 15:6 Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy.
Nehemiah 9:24 So their descendants went in and possessed the land; You subdued before them the Canaanites dwelling in the land. You delivered into their hands the kings and peoples of the land, to do with them as they wished.
Isaiah 41:8-10 “But you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend— / I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its farthest corners. I said, ‘You are My servant.’ I have chosen and not rejected you. / Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Reflection: We have no reason to fear what is happening around us, as long as we stay under the wings of a Hen. He has taken care of us in the past and He will do it now as well.
1 Chronicles 29:12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler over all. In Your hands are power and might to exalt and give strength to all.
Psalm 136:17-22 To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever: / And slew famous kings: for his mercy endureth for ever: / Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth for ever:…
Psalm 77:15 With power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
Psalm 78:54-55 He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired. / He drove out nations before them and apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
Psalm 80:8 You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and transplanted it.
Isaiah 63:12-14 who sent His glorious arm to lead them by the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to gain for Himself everlasting renown, / who led them through the depths like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble? / Like cattle going down to the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led Your people this way to make for Yourself a glorious name.
Acts 7:45 And our fathers who received it brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations God drove out before them. It remained until the time of David,
Commentary: These texts above testify of God’s constant devotion to those who care to follow Him.
Reflection: He has done such a great job in my life, and I praise Him for that.
Hebrews 11:29-30 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were drowned. / By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days.
Romans 8:31 What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Prayer: Circumstances around us do change, people can raise the fear flags but we have God and our trust is in Him. God will give us victory as we continue to walk in our saving relationship with Jesus Christ and do our part in enlarging His kingdom both in quality and quantity. May this be true today in my life Jesus as I trust You. Amen
