Deaf Revival Day |
March 10th, 2007 |
It was a day of rejoicing and gladness! Steven Santiago from Fredericksburg, Virginia, hosted the Sabbath School on a topic of death. As a Christian, how we should face the death and how we should feel about it. Jesus promised to us that we will risen up from grave when Jesus comes down from heaven to take us all home as mention in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18. We are comforted to hear this wonderful promise. Silent Praise (ASL choir from Shiloh SDA Church) signed two wonderful songs called "I Need an Angel" and "My Life, My Love, My All". We are moved with their very expressive motions. Afterwards, Paul Kelly from Rochester, New York, preached a powerful sermon about people in the Bible standing up for Christ. Likewise, we need to stand up for Christ and to carry on the Gospel news to everyone. If you would like to see more of Silent Praise's songs, come to their concert at Shiloh SDA Church on April 7th at 6pm. Hope to see you there!

Black History Month |
February 17th, 2007 |
What a joy to know more about Black History through expressions of praise to God. We all give thanks to the Lord for all the good things that He has done for us. Just like Job in the Bible; in spite of horror that happened to Job, he praised God: "I came naked from my mother's womb, and I will be stripped of everything when I die. The LORD gave me everything I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!" (Job 1:21, NLT)
We visited Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church on a beautiful wintry Sabbath to meet our Sister in Christ who is interested in our Deaf Ministry. She wants to learn sign language in order to share the Gospel to the deaf in her church. And also we are exciting to find out that this church also have ASL Choir called "Silent Praise". After meeting many Brothers and Sisters in the church, we were invited to one of their place for potluck. We get to experience the Black Culture in their home: eating Caribbean food and celebrating the couple's 23rd wedding anniversary.
Afterwards, Silent Praise invited us to their concert at Downsview Seventh-day Adventist Church. In fact, Downsview were presenting "Celebrating Black History" Concert with musical reflections, poetry and speeches. After three dramatic expressions songs signed by "Silent Praise", we told them that they did wonderful job together!
We are looking forward to see "Silent Praise" at our church on March 10th! We ask you to come and celebrate Deaf Culture with Deaf Pastor and ASL Choir too! Praise God!
